Vita-Salute San Raffaele University was founded in 1996 with the inauguration of the Faculty of Psychology, soon followed by the Faculties of Medicine, in 1998, and Philosophy in 2002. Since its establishment, the University has been characterized by a strong integration of teaching and research in each of its facets: basic, philosophical and social. The mission of Vita-Salute San Raffaele is to answer to the question Quid Est Homo? (What is Mankind?) strongly believing that the human kind is biologically, psychologically and spiritually unique and that the centre of inspiration remains the essential dimensions of human beings: mind, body and soul. Our University embraces the mission to answer this question with the establishment of its three Schools: Psychology, Medicine and Philosophy. Each School develops and analyses the three essential dimensions of the human being, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University is reference in the field of university education, as one of the top academic institutions in Italy. Each department is a complex structure including, other than the undergraduate and graduate courses also research centres, doctoral schools and master programs. The University is now part of the Gruppo Ospedaliero San Donato, Italy’s largest private Hospital Group.
