Technische Hochschule Köln (TH Köln) is the largest public university for applied sciences in Germany. More than 27,000 students, including 4,000 international students, work together in an inspiring learning and research environment. We offer Bachelor's and Master's programs in the fields of Applied Natural Sciences, Architecture and Construction, Information and Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, Culture, Society and Social Sciences as well as Business Studies. To ensure that students get off to a good start, we offer a wide range of mentoring programs. It is becoming increasingly rare for students at TH Köln to have classical lectures. Rather, the aim is for students to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies both on their own and in teams in project-oriented teaching and learning formats. Around 80 percent of our students develop their projects and final theses in cooperation with companies. The diversity of our subject areas opens up numerous opportunities to work together in an interdisciplinary manner. TH Köln aims at supporting and promoting young scientific talents. Currently, more than 190 doctoral candidates are researching at TH Köln. Even though TH Köln is not permitted to confer doctoral degrees itself in compliance with the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act, we explicitly welcome and support doctorate projects carried out in cooperation with universities. This means a doctoral researcher is jointly supervised by a professor at TH Köln and a professor at a university. Prerequisite for a successful application is a postgraduate degree (Master’s degree or equivalent).
